Ireland, Wales and England

Wow! What a time it's been! It's been really busy and such an adventure these past 4 weeks. After leaving Scotland we traveled by ferry to Ireland where we stayed for 2 weeks with an Irish family - (the O'Briens) in County Clare.  We volunteered on their farm which was a really great experience. Some of the jobs where: Herding cows, cutting a 150 meter path through a forest, assisting with the building of a shed, fixing wellingtons, checking ash trees for a disease, pulling dock weeds from a field and assisting with the castration of some young bulls. Lots of variety! :) Colm, our host took us to see Galway, the cliffs of Moher and some ancient tomb stones. We also went to a music festival in a little town nearby and got a good dose of Irish music!

From Ireland we travelled to Wales by ferry and spent a night there so we didn't actually get to see very much. We saw a bit of Holyhead and wizzed through Cardiff on the train. That's about it.

From Wales we travelled by train to Bath where we spent 4 nights. We stayed with some lovely hosts who made us feel right at home. Bath was amazing! So historical, it made us feel like we were stepping back in time to the Jane Austin era. We visited the Roman baths, visited the Jane Austin museum, stonehenge, Lacock, and some of the cotswolds!

From Bath we traveled to London where we stayed in a little unit for 5 nights. We got to go to church at Westminster Abbey, visit the London museum, the cartoon museum (which is run by Colm O'briens sister), the west end - where we saw two great shows: "War Horse" and "Phantom of the Opera", we also got to see Kensington palace and gardens and portabello road markets.
