Goodbye SCOTLAND!

Our time in Scotland was amazing! We had the best time there and were sad to leave, but you never know we may go back again one day! Some of the things we did in the last weeks we were there was we said goodbye to our dear friends at Duchray Castle and then travelled to Dornie were we visited the lovely Eileen Donan Castle and then from there we journeyed to the beautiful Isle of Skye, way way up just off the western coast of Scotland's mainland. I think it is probably the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life! The mountains were spectacular and the number of sheep roaming the hills was astounding! In Skye we traveled all around the northern tip and visited Flora Macdonald's grave, some little thatched cottages, the ruins of Duntulm Castle, the Fairy Glen, the Quiraing mountains and little village of Uig were we stayed for two nights at a youth hostel.

After Skye we headed to Inverness were we got to visit Lochness (were we looked our for the elusive Nessie who has supposedly been seen by over 1000 eye witness'), Urquart Castle, and Culloden's field (where Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobites were defeated by the british. He actually escaped from the British and fled to Skye with the help of Flora MacDonald - she was named a Scottish heroine for her act of bravery in helping the prince. There is even a dance named after her).

From Inverness we travelled down to Glasgow were we got to spend a day exploring!

A clan rock in Culloden's field. There we heaps of these rocks with all the different clan names on them throughout the field. They are a memorial for the clans that died during the battle of Culloden.
